These various book covers were all created for Haworth Press. Haworth Press specialized in the production of scientific and medical journals. Their cover guidelines were somewhat narrow, so I had to find creative ways to add individuality to them. It was always my goal to create book covers that I thought would be appealing and attention getting. I also wanted to communicate the idea of each book in a way that would make the essence of the book clear even at a glance. Bookshelves in bookstores are packed and I made it my business to create covers that would stand out in a crowd!
In addition, I tried to steer away from using stock imagery. So many publishing companies now think that good design is just slapping some relevant images down with some pretty text. I don't agree, and so I wished for my covers to speak without words.
